Dodgers vs the Anacortes Silverhawks!

On May 30, 2015, Langley Baseball’s 11-12 Major A Dodgers had the pleasure of visiting the Anacortes Silverhawks for a double header with a BBQ in between. To say the least things far exceeded our expectations.

The Dodgers arrived on a beautiful morning to find an immaculate artificial turf field with permission to check it out and get used to its speed and interesting bounces.

After a fun warm up, the first game was a back and forth battle with excellent starting pitching by both teams. Josh McCaffrey pitched four strong innings for the Dodgers followed by Cole Bruhaug. The game was a 4-4 tie going into the 6th when Anacortes came through with a 2 out base hit for the walk off win.

Following the excitement of the first game, the Anacortes families spoiled our players, coaches and families with a wonderful BBQ of burgers, hot dogs, veggies, fruit, snacks, drinks and desserts.

After some digestion and a quick warm up game two was underway. The players may have been a little sluggish but the starting pitchers from both teams came ready to play. Keaton Fyke pitched 4 1/3 spectacular innings leaving the game behind 2-1. Dayton King came in to close out the 5th. The Dodgers mounted a come back in the bottom of the 5th to take a 3-2 lead. King came back in for the 6th allowing only a walk to hang on for the win.
