Sheila Engh Memorial Tournament Weekend
This weekend (May 12-14), Langley Baseball will be hosting the Sheila Engh Memorial Tournament, who was a dedicated Board Member and club cheerleader. This tournament features the Mother’s Day 9/10 Majors on Jalaaid and Cooke and the Juniors (13/14) Pink Bat on Barbour. Looking forward to seeing everyone this weekend.
Sheila’s favorite words of encouragement were “Be one with the ball” to the players in the field. Far more than just a member of the club, Sheila’s passion for youth baseball inspired her to organize the yearly photos, opening ceremonies, scorekeepering and Team Mom events. She also was one of the organizers, volunteer and proud grandparent of a player for the 2009 Junior National Tournament.
Sheila was usually found at one of her 2 grandson’s baseball games in her chair and blankets cheering them on while keeping score and pitch count. To many of us she is remembered as a scorekeeper extraordinaire. Sheila passed away peacefully on Nov 22, 2012 in Abbotsford. Her smile and laugh is missed by many and Langley Baseball is not the same without her.
